Mr. Lau is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner and Memeber of Investment Committee of CIRTech Fund.
Prior to co-founding CIRTech Fund, Mr. Lau co-founded Gobi Ventures in 2002 and was the senior managing partner of the firm until late 2014, when he joined Waterwood Group.
Gobi is an early-stage venture capital firm that focuses on TMT investment opportiunities in China and ASEAN. Portfolio companies of the firm includes Tuniu (TOUR.Nasdaq), VSG Vange Software (VWA.FWB), DMG (acquired by VisionChina, VISN.Nasdaq), Longtuo (acquired by Publicis, PUB.Euronext), Quark Finance (acquired by CIGL, 01669.HK), Opzoon (acquired by Gongda Hi-Tech, 600701.SH), and Dianwoba (acquired by Alibaba, BABA.NYSE). Investors of the firm include IBM, McGraw-Hill, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Disney, and other international institutional investors.
Prior to founding Gobi, Wai-Kit served as senior executive at corporate and financial services firms, managing China inbound/outbound investments and related corporate finance activities.
He was trained as a lawyer and received his law degree from the University of Hong Kong. Before his corporate life, Wai-Kit practiced law at Baker & McKenzie with expertise on cross border investment and securities work. He is qualified to practice law in Hong Kong, California, Singapore, and England and Wales.
